My guest today is Kristen Santos, a dedicated physical education teacher in Massachusetts since 1998. She started her career in Framingham and has spent the last 20 years teaching PE at Hopkinton Middle School. Kristen is also a certified yoga instructor with over 200 hours of training, a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher, and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider.

Beyond the classroom, Kristen is a Yoga Teacher Trainer for the ChildLight Education Company, where she leads courses like Yoga and Mindfulness for Athletes and Yoga for PE Teachers. In 2024, she was recognized as the Massachusetts Middle School PE Teacher of the Year. She also travels the country presenting at conferences and providing professional development for school districts, helping educators integrate yoga into their PE programs.

In this episode, we discuss what sparked Kristen’s passion for yoga, the benefits of incorporating yoga into physical education, strategies for aligning it with standards-based instruction, how yoga can help create a more positive and inclusive PE environment, and other topics.
